ERISA Legal Counsel The candidate: Drafts and negotiates legal documents with clients, prospective clients and other third parties, including recordkeeping agreements, trust documents, letters of understanding, nondisclosure agreements, data security agreements, trading agreements, communications, and other materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to mitigate legal risk to the firm. Provides material assistance to RPS Sales in responding to requests for proposals, requests for information, sales meetings, and communications with prospective clients. Analyzes and researches complex retirement plan related legal matters with impacts to RPS and the firm; presents to Senior Legal Counsel and Managing Counsel, as appropriate, the results of such research and analysis, including interpretations, findings, and recommendations. Applies structured, logical thinking to analyzing issues, answering inquiries, evaluating and escalating risks, and interpreting legal principals relative to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and precedents. Works collaboratively with colleagues within work group and the legal department, and with business units to analyze, evaluate, and implement legislative and regulatory proposals and new developments impacting business practices, products, and the provision of products and services to retirement plans and tax-exempt investors. Assists in the review and development of new product and service offerings to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Should preferably have moderate experience or familiarity with laws and regulations in any of the noted areas of responsibility. 5-6 years of relevant experience since the date of bar admission, with some of those years spent in a private law firm or corporate legal department setting is a plus. Must have 3+ years of related work experience.
