Government Relations Counsel Duties: Provide legal analysis and advice to internal clients regarding right-of-way access rights, utility infrastructure access rights, permitting, private easements, project deployment and network operations. Work well in a team environment and have a thorough understanding of local government permitting processes and procedures. Provide legal support to government relations team responsible for submitting and acquiring permits and other entitlement applications and agreements necessary for the installation of facilities on utility poles and other infrastructure within the public right of way; Provide legal support to implementation and asset management teams to ensure compliance with permitting conditions of approvals during construction phases and operation of networks; Provide legal support for government relations team’s efforts to negotiate franchise and other right-of-way use agreements in accordance with standards and parameters; Maintain relationships with municipalities and provide counsel regarding compliance with conditions of approvals from municipalities for installation, and operation and maintenance of facilities; will be called upon to interface with City Attorneys’ offices and City staff regarding legal matters related to municipal codes and procedures; provide effective communications regarding right to occupy the right-of-way; Provide legal support to internal clients regarding municipal code and/or zoning ordinance changes; Maintain internal record-keeping system; and Litigation support as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. JD Degree from an accredited law school. Attorney’s License. 2-4 years' proven experience working in a utility, municipality, or Planning, Zoning, and Land Use capacity; or equivalent in a comparable industry or relevant military experience. Experience presenting and speaking in public and/or before governmental entities required. Wireless industry experience preferred. Must be experienced in navigating corporate or military command structures and working within a corporate environment. Experience working with design teams, preparation of permits drawings and construction documents, and construction preferred. Demonstrated responsibility for administering a group or program budget preferred. Litigation or litigation support experience preferred. Experience in constructing and administering community outreach programs preferred. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with individuals of diverse background, personalities and opinions. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Working knowledge of MS Office.
