Counsel, Environment and Energy Duties: Represent AGA in stakeholder and agency meetings on environmental issues. Draft comments on environmental regulatory proposals, coordinating input from members to reach consensus. Review, analyze and summarize environmental and energy efficiency regulatory and legislative proposals. Research legal and policy issues as needed for comments or testimony. Draft analyses and summaries to keep members informed of regulatory developments. Attend and provide concise summaries of hearing and briefings. Prepare reports, presentations and collateral materials for use in public policy outreach and communications. Develop and maintain federal environmental regulatory content for AGA website. Work collaboratively within the Regulatory Affairs team and others at AGA.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: J.D. and admission to a state Bar. Interest in environmental, energy and administrative law and policy. Preferably 2-5 years of experience in environmental regulatory policy (private practice, energy industry, association, government or NGO). Legal research capability. Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate complex subjects clearly to a range of audiences. Strong relationship building, problem solving and verbal communication skills. Ability to work harmoniously as part of a team, and to maintain strong and productive relationships with work colleagues, AGA members and others. Ability to take direction, work independently and coordinate work with others. Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a professional manner, to meet deadlines and manage resources.
