Senior Policy Analyst The candidate will manage the Urban Water Team of advocates and the related team budget and play a principal role in fundraising for the team. Assure team members have clear direction, support, opportunities for professional development, and work in a productive and collegial team environment. Serve as a senior representative for ompany in a variety of regulatory, administrative, and collaborative settings, advocating for improvements in urban water management at a local and national level. Foster cooperative relationships with municipalities to advance common water management goals. Analyze policy, research and write company reports, assist in the preparation of media materials, and where necessary conduct or supervise litigation (if a lawyer). Review and comment on ordinances, draft permits, agency reports, draft rules, and represent company before local, state and federal agencies. Play a lead role in communications for Program work, through both traditional and new media. The position will include identifying strategic priorities, setting goals, and developing and implementing a plan to achieve those goals often in partnership with other Water Program teams and other Programs. Administrative responsibilities will include program planning, budgeting, fundraising, and participation in institutional committees, as appropriate. Regular travel in support of program goals is required. Should have a Master’s degree, JD or equivalent in public policy, law or a water-related field; 15 years’ experience in a related field. The ability to build and strengthen relationships with federal, state and municipal agencies, as well as with NGOs, is critical. Needed skills include strong writing, policy and analytic skills; strategic planning and management; relationship building with environmental and non-environmental organizations and agencies; public speaking. Knowledge of and fluency with the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and other relevant federal statutes, green infrastructure, water efficiency and conservation, national building and plumbing codes (both base codes and “greenâ€), and relevant NGO and municipal partners at the state, regional and national level is important.
