Environmental Law Attorney The candidate will: Provide day-to-day legal support and advice to management and ES&H. Counsel and assist management and employees on application of federal, state & local laws. Assist in review and development of company policies, procedure and programs. Manage litigation. Draft and present training on environmental issues. Maintain and support culture of legal compliance.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: J.D. Degree from an accredited Law School. Active license to practice law in at least one state (NY, PA, SC or ID) or ability to obtain license within 1 year. 5+ years of experience preferred. Active membership in good standing of the bar of at least one state. Member of the state bar of New York, Pennsylvania or Idaho. Experience providing legal advice to a DOE Contractor managing and operating a Federal facility. Prior experience with environmental permitting and the interpretation of the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, RCRA and Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act. Experience in advising and representing corporate employers, either in private practice or as a member of a corporate legal department. Prior employment with a Federal agency or contractor. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable statutes, laws and regulations. Demonstrated willingness to learn and advise in other general law subject matter areas as needed, including compliance, government contracts, labor & employment and administrative law. Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale projects. Demonstrated ability to present information and reports to management clearly and concisely, in a manner that illustrates thorough understanding of the impact of legal advice on laboratory operations. Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated compliance focus with ability to identify, analyze and mitigate risk while providing superior legal counsel. Demonstrated strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility and partner with others.
