Environmental Staff Attorney The candidate will be working within the firm’s Environmental Section and will provide environmental expertise to support transactional due diligence on a national basis, including reviewing and assessing environmental site assessment and other reports, and drafting and negotiating environmental provisions. Will have extensive daily interaction with both internal and external attorneys, developers, consultants and clients. Review and interpret environmental site assessment reports and prepare written summaries that can be understood by non-technical individuals. Draft, review and negotiate environmental provisions in Purchase Agreements, Ground Leases, Access Agreements, Consultant Contracts and Remediation and Indemnification Agreements. Provide guidance and direction on environmental strategy. Regularly communicate with consultants, developer and clients. Collaborate with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other specialists and experts to address environmental issues. Develop, refine and implement best practices and streamline processes to be more cost-effective. Develop and maintain familiarity with multiple state remediation programs.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Must have 10+ years of working experience and 7+ years of experience working as an attorney in the environmental field. Thorough understanding of the due diligence and remediation processes essential. Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs throughout the country preferred.
