Staff Attorney, Water Program The candidate will work with the Water Program. Will be expected to play a major role in formulating and implementing company’s efforts to advocate for improved policies addressing stormwater pollution and promoting water supply opportunities across California and the nation, and will collaborate with a team of attorneys, policy analysts and other staff engaged on these issues. This job will include: Review and analysis of current federal, state, and local stormwater programs, and promoting relevant innovations; Legislative and regulatory advocacy relating to stormwater and water supply augmentation opportunities' Pursuing and supporting litigation in state and federal court where necessary to achieve programmatic objectives; Advocating at the local and national level for the use of green infrastructure and stormwater capture as important water quality and water supply tools; Promoting increased integration of water quality and water supply planning; Supervising the work of contractors and interns; Travel necessary to implement work plan objectives in national and local areas of focus.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law degree with a license to practice law in California (or the ability to become licensed upon employment). Should have 3 years work experience in a related field. Strong litigation or advocacy experience on environmental issues are needed. Must have experience in building collaborations with non-traditional allies and in working with local, state or federal agencies. Should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team to build upon strengths of the program. Knowledge of water policies, including water quality and water supply issues, a plus.
