Technical Claims Specialist - Environmental Mass Tort Duties: Manages a portfolio of environmental toxic tort, asbestos, and other mass tort claims to assure delivery of superior claims outcomes. Concludes claims based on the analysis of coverage and the developed facts of loss. Promotes the success of the organization through development of relationships with agencies and policy holders. Handle the assigned portfolio of high severity, specialized, complex and unique claims. Investigate, evaluate, make coverage determinations and formulate appropriate disposition strategies to mitigate and resolve losses in the best interest of the policy holder, agency and organization. Establish and maintain proper reserves for each claim to accurately reflect the financial exposure. Collaborate with outside counsel to manage litigated claims in multiple jurisdictions. Negotiate cost share agreements with other insurers and/or policy holders. Provide claim details and status to internal business partners including actuarial, reinsurance and underwriting as well as external customers including insureds and agents as required. Develop and implement efficient and effective processes and guidelines for environmental toxic tort, asbestos, and other mass tort claims.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field. J.D. Degree preferred. 5 years environmental toxic tort, asbestos, and/or other mass tort claims experience, or related insurance coverage matters. Demonstrated expertise in multiple jurisdictions. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers. Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers. Proven negotiations skills.
