Market Intelligence Sector Researcher – Media and Entertainment Duties: Provides timely and high-quality authoritative research to support Sector leadership and client teams and contributes to research and data-driven deliverables in response to customer needs. Provide in-depth and complex information on the media and entertainment industry and issues in order to support strategic decisions.Undertaking and packaging research into synthesis-driven deliverables using a range of internal and external tools, resources and databases. He or she may also contribute to analysis deliverables. Provides coaching to customers on the use of knowledge tools and assists customers in identifying resources that address their requests. Serve as a resource to colleagues, promoting the sharing of knowledge within the firm. Works with other members of the Media and Entertainment team and wider parts of the Knowledge community, including global counterparts, to ensure consistency and quality in research initiatives and outputs.. Produces advanced qualitative and quantitative research to fulfill structured and unstructured requests to support a community, including proactive support of priority accounts. Delivers multifaceted, synthesis-driven responses to requests and supervises the work of others. Is recognized within EY as a subject matter specialist in the field of knowledge resources and can tailor deliverables to the needs of the audience internally and with external clients when required. Collaborates with SMI Analysts and completes the research required to support creation of thought leadership. Leverages an extensive range of external and secondary research resources for information gathering and general analysis. Conducts primary research as appropriate and synthesizes the information into a clear message. Undertakes competitive or market intelligence research to support business decisions and planning (e.g., audit market share). Demonstrates a strong understanding of services, solutions and go-to-market approach. Coordinates complex research projects, including teaming with colleagues, coaching on requirements of the deliverable and recompiling projects that require several contributors while managing deadlines and other constraints. Teams with research staff across other industries or service lines to provide ad hoc research assistance when required; where promotes cross-teaming and knowledge sharing. Demonstrates ability to initiate, develop and sustain key relationships in area of core responsibility to achieve a consultant or trusted advisor status. Manages relationships with customers and vendors, and communicates ideas for leading practices and process improvements. Manages senior stakeholders, helping to manage their expectations and prioritize requests. Coordinates and promotes the sharing of knowledge resources and analysis tools. Conducts or assists in delivering presentations, training and workshops for internal clients on key business issues and developments. Identifies training gaps and consults with colleagues to develop and deliver training to industry or service line clients as appropriate. Performs research that translates undefined business needs into knowledge solutions. Draws linkages between the research undertaken and EY solutions. Able to bring together a variety of perspectives and sources and develop a conclusion in context of EY. Demonstrates ability to use both qualitative and quantitative methodologies including financial analysis skills. Effectively manages customer expectations. Provides feedback to others regarding performance, especially junior researchers. Able to work with limited supervision; works well under pressure. Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Management, Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Journalism, Law or related subjects, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years’ experience in business or industry research. Knowledge and experience in a professional services environment preferred. Strong oral and written communications skills; proficient presentation skills. Sophisticated research and problem-solving skills; emerging analytical and consequential thinking. Excellent project and time-management skills; able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Highly proficient in retrieval of information from proprietary online databases other secondary sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Factiva). Advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. An understanding of financial reporting.
