Legal Publications Specialist Duties: Serves the Judicial Branch by reviewing, researching, drafting, and updating internal documentation and publications and public information for posting in court locations, on the Judicial Branch web sites, and by other methods of distribution, inside and outside the Judicial Branch. Serve as primary back-up for internet, intranet, and social media posting and will be required to become familiar with and use Google Sites, Google Groups, Dreamweaver, basic HTML, and other applications. Works with Judicial Branch employees and conducts research to gather information needed to update current Judicial Branch web content, written materials, documents and publications, and for the development of new Judicial Branch web content and publications. Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads Judicial Branch publications. Works with the Office of Information Technology and others to utilize formats that provide the greatest possible access to publications and forms. Works closely with Judicial Branch administrators and judges to design, write, edit and coordinate distribution of informational pamphlets, materials, brochures, and other publications. Maintains master list of printed material to ensure current versions of materials are available for quarterly requisitions for clerk print requests. Produces graphs, charts, tables, and other visual depictions of information. Serves as primary back-up content poster for web publications, Judicial Branch closings, and other Judicial Branch information, including social media posts. Coordinates with Legislative Analyst to ensure revisions to all existing Judicial Branch forms and new forms are posted and disseminated as required. Assists in gathering information from stakeholders, including legal service providers, members of the litigating public, and the Bar to assure that the publicly available Judicial Branch information is useful, clear, and up-to-date. Assists with the taking and gathering of photographs for use in publications. May work with operational units or committees to assist with the development and implementation of the e-filing Case Management System.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree, or equivalent, from ABA accredited law school required. Strong written communication and analytical skills required. Ability to proofread and produce publication ready materials. Proficiency in computerized word processing is required. Experience with spreadsheets, and database programs is strongly preferred, and will be required after a period of time after initial employment. Knowledge of the duties of the judicial and legal system, including judges, Judicial Branch personnel, attorneys, mediators, interpreters, and others and their roles. Internet website design or management, including the posting of documents is preferred. Knowledge and experience with Google Sites, Google Groups, Dreamweaver and basic HTML is preferred. Experience in supporting legal services to people with low income; experience in working with individuals with disabilities, with limited English proficiency, and with self-represented parties preferred. Experience in working with Excel or other applications to develop graphs and charts preferred. Familiarity with Judicial Branch policies, procedures, administrative orders, and court rules preferred.
