Associate; Utilities, Power & Renewable Energy Investment Banking Duties: Accountable for performing in accordance with the strategic direction and overall leadership of the industry segment, including but not limited to the quality of financial analysis and pitch material. Lead the financial modeling and valuation analysis on public / private companies, utilizing comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, leveraged buy-out analysis, project financing, and discounted cash flow analysis. Work with senior bankers and product partners on pitch material related to M&A, public / private equity and debt capital raising. Develop persuasive arguments based on the data gathered by analysts, both conceptually and through client presentations. Develop marketing materials for topics such as company positioning, financing alternatives, and M&A / strategic alternatives. Develop knowledge of relevant information resources: Capital IQ, SNL, Thomson Financial, Bloomberg. Continually build knowledge and capabilities within the industry segment and stay abreast of competitive trends. Generate ideas and analytical materials in support of new client meetings. Responsible for training new hires. Maintain required licensing.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Business (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, etc.). Series 79 & 63 (within six months of employment). 3+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, accounting or consulting. Strong quantitative skills, including financial modeling and financial statement analysis. Quantitatively and financially-oriented, possessing the ability to succinctly express ideas. Strong team player with a positive can-do attitude and desire to be part of a close-knit group operating in an intensive and challenging work environment. Excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), research and presentation skills. Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word). Preferred: MBA, MA in Accounting, CFA, CPA, JD or equivalent. Previous power and / or renewable energy experience.
