Conflicts Counsel The candidate supports the firm's critical risk management function by performing all duties associated with conflict of interest reporting including: conducting research via internal and external sources; analyzing information and interpreting search results; analyzing and composing contents of conflict reports. Provides first round review and analysis of conflict reports, identifying potential conflict issues, analyzing existing waivers, and providing summaries to requesting attorneys. Assists in the analysis of potential conflict issues and supports the responsible attorneys in seeking resolution. Review complex search results as part of conflict analysis and reporting process. Perform searches of external and internal databases for pertinent information on prospective clients and related parties, and subsequently enter new information into the Elite and LegalKEY databases. Review contents of conflict reports and summarize relevant data for, and discuss with, requesting attorneys. Provide analysis of relevant conflict issues and identify means for resolution. Request and maintain all necessary supporting documentation to clear actual or potential conflict issues. Assist with the maintenance of the Firms Ethical Wall Work on special projects as assigned. Work with laterals to assist in clearing conflicts with ICE. Apply the laws of professional responsibility in identifying and resolving actual and potential conflicts of interest. Identify parties involved in various types of legal transactions (including corporate, litigation, bankruptcy, labor and employment, tax, and estate planning matters) and define litigation, bankruptcy, labor and employment, tax, and estate planning matters) and define relationships within the conflict of interest system relationships. Determine when it is appropriate and/or necessary to escalate an issue to the Risk Avoidance Manager or General Counsel.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. degree. Experience in a legal or conflict environment required. Should have Knowledge of conflict of interest principles should include the ability to utilize research tools such as: Dun and Bradstreet, Lexis, Hoover's, and Edgar, LegalKEY and be able to interpret the data produced by those systems. Should have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have strong evaluative and problem solving skills.
