AVP Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will responsible for providing legal advice and counsel for action regarding complex matters which often have a material impact on business activities and operations. Responsible for managing all employment litigation, from individual employment claims to class action lawsuits as well as supporting Human Resources personnel with issues. Advise management and Human Resources on all aspects of employment law. Counsel all levels of management and Human Resources on employment law for an employee workforce. Provide counsel to clients concerning compliance with laws and regulations. Analyze proposed and enacted legislation and provides guidance or comment to clients. Develop implementation strategies relating to compliance with new laws and regulations. Coordinate response to outside entities, including regulatory agencies, clients and their representatives. Manage, advocate, and coordinate Company litigation matters with outside counsel and communicates litigation issues and alternative strategies senior management. May provide direction to other profession, para-professional and support staff in developing solutions to problems presented. Operates under general direction from law department management.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law degree from ABA accredited law school and admission to state Bar (CA preferred). Must have 8-10 years of post Bar experience, with preferred financial services and/or insurance industry experience. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Builds constructive and effective relationships, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills are required. Strong research and analytical skills are needed. Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions is needed. Should have knowledge of several legal specialties along with sound business acumen and knowledge of business goals and objectives.
