Legal Counsel – Labor/Employment The candidate will be responsible for handling company human resource and employment and labor related matters to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. Researches, reviews, amends and drafts various human resource and employment policies and procedures to ensure that the company's obligations are compatible with management philosophy and in compliance with all laws/rules/regulations. Investigates, researches, and provides general legal advice and counsel concerning a broad range of human resource/employment questions and circumstances which arise in the company's day to day business activities to ensure that company personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Advises and assists human resources and management in resolutions related to employee issues, developments and separations to minimize exposure to the company and to avoid future charges or litigation. Responds to and handles federal and state administrative charges, claims, audits and requests, including EEOC, US DOL and various state fair employment and wage and hour agencies. Provides advice and counsel on labor and union issues, including NLRB charges. Advises management of new local, state and federal legislation impacts and relevancy to company operations. Should have Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school. Licensed to practice in Wisconsin. Must have 5+ years of experience in corporate legal department or law firm advising management on a variety of employment and labor related matters, including administrative charges. Should have ability to provide advice, recommendations and solutions to issues as they arise and develop.
