Labor & Employment Attorney The candidate will be ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations; advising on the application of policies, procedures, laws and regulations to specific factual situations; working with human resources department and business units on strategies for managing risk around employment matters, including discipline, terminations, harassment, discrimination and wage and hour compliance; conducting ongoing reviews and development of, and ensuring compliance with, NFI’s employment policies; managing company’s responses to state and federal fair employment practice claims, including EEOC and DOL claims; overseeing and managing litigation related to comapany’s employment and labor practices; advising on both traditional labor and employment law strategies and compliance; monitoring employment and traditional labor law changes and recommending initiatives and implementing training programs related thereto; handling other in-house counsel-related matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice in the U.S.; 8 - 10 years of legal experience, which should include law firm experience; experience with a traditional labor law practice; in depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, including Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, EEO laws, wage and hour and other federal and local laws affecting the employer-employee relationship; strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and analytic skills; good judgment and ability to clearly and effectively articulate reasoned recommendations; ability to work in a fast paced environment and juggle multiple priorities and work with various stakeholders; ability to deliver proactive and practical counseling, training and support to business units and corporate functions; strong team player.
