Senior Legal Editor, Labor and Employment The candidate will work on California law-specific know-how resources focusing on content for the Labor and Employment Service. Will develop, write and edit CA law-specific know-how and current awareness content for practicing attorney-subscribers to be published online for the Labor and Employment Service. Collaborate with other Practical Law editors on content planning and priorities to meet the practice needs of California-based labor and employment attorneys. Produce a wide range of labor and employment resources, including practice guidance notes, standard documents, checklists and other state-specific legal content in Practical Law writing style. Establish and maintain relationships with external California-based law firm and in-house lawyers to find content contributors and to ensure that the labor and employment content is topical and meets their needs. Write and edit content for Practical Law’s companion magazine, Practical Law The Journal. Stay informed of current developments and issues in California labor and employment law and market practice to ensure timely updates of existing content and development of new content. Organize and conduct webinars on labor and employment law topics. Assist with California sales demonstrations and marketing initiatives.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. Degree. Must have 6+ years’ experience working as a labor and employment lawyer in a California-based law firm (or branch office) or as in-house counsel with in-depth work experience in labor and employment matters governed by California law. Must have significant and broad expertise and practice experience in a variety of labor and employment litigation and counseling matters, optimally including: Litigation of California labor and employment matters; Handling California wage and hour matters; Arbitration of California labor and employment casesl; Handling leave issues under California law. Must have an excellent understanding of California labor and employment laws. A good understanding of the needs and priorities of California law firm and in-house counsel and the California legal market relating to labor and employment practice is required. Should have Actively licensed in California. Must have excellent command of grammar, punctuation and plain English; strong technical drafting skills; and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
