Legal Administrative Specialist, GS-0901-9/11 Duties: The candidate use retirement systems technology to answer and resolve customer inquiries received over the telephone, and/or as written or electronic correspondence. Resolve phone calls of unusual technical difficulty such as when callers inquire about obscure or seldom used retirement laws. Review and approve recommendations made by Customer Service Specialists particularly on matters of high complexity. Expedite resolution of special, unique case problems or actions through interaction with managers responsible for the areas in question. Perform quality assurance checks on recorded phone calls and provide information to managers to use as performance feedback with Customer Service Specialists. Provide assistance in developing formal lesson plans for Branch training programs and will deliver formal training, briefings, and workshops and provide one-on-one training as well as coaching and mentoring new employees and employees with performance problems.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications:
GS-9: Must have 1+ year experience at the GS-7 level in the Federal Government that includes explaining programs, rules and regulations to customers; addressing routine customer inquiries that require knowledge of Federal retirement and benefit programs; and answering customer inquiries that require making requested adjustments to annuitant records.

Or

Should have Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.


GS-11: Should have 1+ year of experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal government that includes knowledge of Federal retirement and benefit programs in order to address complicated customers inquiries via phone, email and written correspondence; reviewing cases of unusual technical difficulty; and reviewing and approving recommendations and decisions regarding annuitant records made by other specialists.

Or

Must have Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree (other than J.D.) with major field of study in a related field that demonstrates the competencies needed to do this work, or three full years of graduate education leading to such a degree.
