Regional Manager Labor Relations - Mid-West Responsibilities: Assist the Directors of Labor Relations in Budget preparation and monthly monitoring of the same; identify strategic labor objectives and communicates those to subordinate management Effectively partners with HR and Senior Operators in educating employees on all organized labor issues; review, interpret and make recommendations on company policies & procedures with respect to labor issues; serve as an organizational resource in raising issues that may result in a gap between stated organizational goals and actual practice Keep information confidential; use good judgment about when and how any information can be shared while being mindful of maintaining professional standards Aide in the adherence of Labor Relations Policy Analyze bid opportunities and attend proposal meetings with potential clients Work closely with Directors of Labor Relations and provide advice & counsel as necessary. Fills in for and assumes responsibilities of the Directors of Labor Relations in his/her absence. Labor Negotiations Acts as Chief spokesperson for multiple labor agreements. Develops appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve cost effective agreements. Labor Agreement Administration Administers multiple labor agreements. Advises management on discipline and contract interpretation issues; assures compliance with labor agreements; avoid unnecessary litigation. Employee Relations Promotes/champions union free environments. Provides employee relations training for supervision/management Arbitration Acts as company advocate in arbitration proceedings. Prepares and presents Company’s position; prepares briefs and other documents for proceedings. Managing/Supervising Staff a team to administer Labor Relations processes in a defined territory. Provide training and training opportunities. Support the team through legal updates and information sharing. Attend negotiations if necessary as part of a total development program. Establish goals and evaluate performance against said goals.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree preferred (i.e. JD Degree). 15+ years' Labor Relations experience in a multi location environment where at least 25% of the locations are unionized. Extensive experience in contract negotiations as First Chair with excellent communications skills. Grievance management to arbitration step. Experienced with Union organizing campaigns and awareness training with operators. Experience can be either from a management or labor perspective. Experience in food, vending or support services a plus. Bilingual preferred (Spanish preferred).
