Associate Counsel The candidate will assist in all labor, player contract, and company rules matters handled by the Legal Department, including assistance in matters related to collective bargaining, administration of company rules, research/advice regarding a variety of issues related to the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Salary Cap, and management of processes related to trades, free agency and other related matters. Support legal team on all matters related to collective bargaining. Assist with processes related to trades, the company Draft, advice regarding the company Collective Bargaining Agreement, and player contract management. Manage aspects of the company Salary Cap/Tax/Escrow system for player compensation. Draft memos to company teams regarding collective bargaining, the salary cap, and other player matters. Conduct legal research and provide analysis and advice regarding all labor matters. Participate in company player grievances and other relevant litigations. Supervise processes, documentation, and communication related to company rules enforcement. Provide advice and assistance with other issues related to company teams and players in support of the Legal Department.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law degree from a top law school and bar admission. 2-4 years of experience at a top tier law firm and/or corporate legal department; exposure to labor law a plus. Should have excellent research, writing and communication skills. Organizational and project management skills necessary to support and advise legal and business units and ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner.
