Labor Counsel Duties: Will join a labor practice group with responsibility for labor relations, NLRA-related litigation, arbitrations and various workplace initiatives. Will report to the Senior Director, Labor Practice Group, and offers high visibility throughout the organization, as well as interaction with senior company leaders. Act as company spokesperson and lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements at locations throughout the United States in collaboration with senior management and HR professionals. Ensure negotiations result in agreements that are consistent with national business priorities. Ensure alignment between labor relations policies and other key constituencies such as HR, Safety, Operations and Fleet Management. Develop and help business administer strike contingency plans at the Regional level. Analyze employment data and cost bargaining proposals. Identify relevant trends, events or political developments that may impact the Company’s business strategies. Litigate arbitrations. Assist with NLRA-related litigation and case handling. Direct the company’s response to RC and other petitions. Administer the company’s positive workplace development programs. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: Qualification Requirements: A J. D. degree from an accredited law school, with proven academic success. Licensed to practice law and in good standing under the Bar of the state of residence or Pennsylvania. 2-6 years of direct relevant labor relations experience. Demonstrated arbitration experience. Demonstrated NLRB case-handling experience. The candidate must be actively licensed to practice in the home state or PA, and must have 2+ years of labor law and labor relations experience (including negotiations and arbitrations). The candidate should be an traditional labor relations attorney with 2-6 years of experience. Should also have experience in practicing before the National Labor Relations Board Regional Offices and be able to produce relevant writing samples upon request. A background in human resources, shared management structures and/or employee engagement initiatives is preferred. Experience working with and influencing teams of managers and HR professional is preferred. This role requires a subject matter expert in traditional labor law, including recent changes to the NLRA case law, and working knowledge of the LMRDA, OSHA, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and worker's compensation laws. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively on projects with business executives, front-line managers and human resources professionals. Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to inspire trust and confidence with stakeholders, demonstrated business acumen, professional competence and integrity. Willingness to travel extensively. Some travel may be required.
