Staff Legal Attorney II - Workers' Compensation The candidate will represent the commercial insureds of the company by preparing and defending Workers' Compensation cases from a challenging and varied caseload. Perform duties encompassing all aspects of insurance defense, including initial investigation and legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting discovery, preparing for and aggressively handling hearings, and conducting post-hearing activities where appropriate.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Must have 5+ years of experience and knowledge of Workers' Compensation procedure and practice. Should be an active member of the Massachusetts State Bar with substantial experience in Massachusetts (New Hampshire experience would be a plus). Workers' Compensation experience is a must. Staff counsel experience beneficial. Should be PC literate with working knowledge of MS Office software, Lotus Notes, and significant knowledge of Lexis or Westlaw. Must demonstrate effective negotiating skills. Should be knowledge of billables and diary review with substantive and procedural legal knowledge.
