Human Resource Consultant - Alternative Legal Career Duties: Will have the opportunity to advise employers of all sizes on a wide range of interesting and challenging issues; develop and present in-depth educational presentations for a large audience with varying abilities and experience; write blog posts and e-books on developing legal and practical issues; and be an internal subject matter expert and compliance resource for organizational guiding teams and sales force. Respond promptly to client inquiries by listening critically, gathering relevant information and, thereafter, identifying appropriate solutions to fit client's risk tolerance and overall corporate culture. Develop, review and/or edit documents for clients covering various employment and human resources issues (e.g. employee handbooks, discipline and termination; responses to leave and accommodation requests; as well as employee benefit materials). Ensure all documents prepared or reviewed comply with existing state and federal regulations as well as the client’s overall culture. Research and analyze existing and new regulations impacting a broad range of state and federal regulations (e.g. employment and insurance laws) in order to be a subject matter expert for internal and external clients. Prepare value added articles on relevant state and federal employment and insurance trends that convey not only a high level of subject matter expertise, but also best practice solutions for internal and external clients and prospects. Create and deliver value-added presentations to a wide range of audiences of varying abilities (e.g. introductory, intermediate and advanced levels) on topics ranging from complex employment laws (e.g. FMLA, ADA, FLSA, payroll) and human resources best practices (leadership, hiring, coaching and termination), to complex benefit regulations (e.g. HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, the ACA), and risk management best practices. Presentations are delivered in a variety of mediums such as in-person, onsite, industry specific conventions or meetings (e.g. SHRM) and via webinars.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A J.D. degree and a law license in good standing. 4+ years of demonstrated related experience (e.g., ERISA, employment laws, worker's compensation, labor laws, risk management advising, public sector, etc.). Experience with employees benefits or insurance and risk management issues are a plus.
