Profile

Vice President, Employment and Compensation & Benefits Law The candidate will leads a team that provides legal counsel and partnership to company’s Global Human Resources team and other key stakeholders. As a member of the Legal management team, demonstrate leadership abilities by partnering with the General Counsel and business unit/functional leaders to develop strategies, objectives, policies, and programs that achieve business objectives while protecting the company and mitigating legal risk. Generate creative solutions and help to strengthen client relationships while managing and successfully leading the Employment Law, Executive Compensation and HR legal support team. Work with Executive Management and colleagues in the global legal team, regional legal teams, and in the various business functions to ensure delivery of high caliber, strategic, risk-weighted, and business-focused legal advice. Responsibilities include assuming leadership roles on complex projects in the company and the Legal Department. Below details the responsibilities of the VP role and of the team this role will supervise: Advise company's on the full range of global employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, performance management, terminations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absences and accommodations, privacy, background screening, internal investigations, restrictive covenants, etc., as well as draft, review, and develop Human Resources policies and procedures; Serve as trusted advisor to Human Resources and senior leaders on handling complex employee relations and all employment law matters while mitigating risk; Investigate and prepare responses to administrative charges and other pre-litigation matters, negotiating resolution of claims, and managing outside counsel efficiently and cost-effectively; Conduct legal research and advising company's on policies, procedures and issues impacted by relevant legislation and regulatory developments around the world; Conduct employment law training for key internal stakeholders; Advise and collaborate with Human Resources and regional lawyers on the development and implementation of global initiatives; Maintain knowledge of global employment law developments and proactively identifying issues of concern; Partnering with and supporting the General Counsel, EVP, HR and senior HR management in designing, modifying and communicating company's Global Compensation programs; Annual legal risk assessment of the company's compensation programs, including annual bonus plans, long-term incentive plans and sales incentive plans; Partnering with the Executive Compensation team to prepare compensation recommendations for Executive Committee positions and analyze and update the salary range structure for executive level positions, as necessary; Working with HR management and Legal colleagues to ensure compliance with benefits-related laws and proper reporting to external agencies for mandatory reporting purposes to ensure regulatory compliance, for example 8K, 10K, S-1 etc. as required; Counseling senior executives and members of the Board of Directors including the Compensation Committee on executive compensation matters including: legislative, regulatory and governance developments and initiatives regarding executive compensation, including Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Labor, and stock exchange requirements; Advising the Company on legal compliance issues arising out of the design, implementation, compliance and governance of tax qualified and ERISA welfare plans, pension and 401(k) retirement plans and non-qualified retirement plans, executive compensation plans, deferred compensation plans, severance plans, fringe benefit plans and broad-based international equity plans, employee stock purchase plans, and health and welfare plans.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Law degree from a leading university with strong academic credentials and admission to at least one state Bar. Should have 15+ years of employment law experience at top law firm and/or in-house at a multinational company; experience in handing or overseeing executive compensation matters; experience in the payments industry a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including for executive management audience. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management, including Executive Management, and work on senior-level cross functional teams over multiple geographical locations. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven track record of providing proactive, effective counseling to senior business clients, preferably globally. Exhibit exceptional integrity, judgment, and discretion.
