ProfileDirector, Intellectual Property The candidate position entails: Implementing Lam’s global IP strategy, program, and policies in a cross-functional team environment. Partnering with and being the go-to counsel to select Lam business organizations for all aspects of IP especially patents, trade secrets, and copyrights/ open source. Managing company’s patent applications for business organization’s in the US, PCT and foreign jurisdictions. Supporting IP components in M&A, JV, and commercial transactions and licensing. Occasional adversarial – litigation, oppositions, etc. – work including risk assessments and IP evaluation. Sporadic international travel, primarily to Asia. Must be a registered patent attorney, but not a single-skill patent prosecutor. Should have excellent interpersonal English-language communication skills, written, oral and presentation. Must have excellent legal and analytical skills coupled with a good business sense and strong technical background is essential. Should have 12+ years of experience, J.D. or equivalent from a top law school, U.S. Patent Bar and California Bar or admission to the bar in another US state with existing plans to take and pass the California Bar. Background or experience in the semiconductor equipment and/or semiconductor industry is needed. B.S. in a semiconductor related disciplines: Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Chinese language skills are a plus.
