ProfileElder Law Attorney Duties: Providing legal advice, representation in court and at administrative hearings and document preparation in the substantive areas of health law and elder law. Handling a full range of elder law and health related matters including Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, administrative hearings, Superior Court litigation, and appeals as well as drafting wills, powers of attorney and advance directives. Includes one week in five rotation in landlord-tenant unit, as well as conducting community education. will also include a rotation in housing/eviction court.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2 years+ health law or elder law experience, excellent interpersonal skills. Extensive experience drafting Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney and Advance Directive documents a must. Legal Aid experience or other relevant experience a plus. Knowledge of, and experience handling Medicaid, and Medicare appeals and representation at fair hearings is required. Commitment to serving low income community and keeping the promise of Justice for All; license to practice law; Multi-lingual a plus. Proficiency in estate planning and elder law issues, health law (Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare Long-Term Support Services and other relevant benefit programs) as well as housing/eviction law.
