Director, International Scholar Services Duties: Oversee the International Scholar area within the International Students and Scholars office. Responsible for the annual hiring of up to 1,000 international faculty, researchers, and staff across all of Purdue's colleges and schools. Manage and supervise a six person unit that is critical to the research and teaching mission of the University. Oversee the J-1 research scholar (visiting scholar), H-1B faculty/researcher, and employment-based Permanent Residency cases. Liaise with Legal Counsel for non-faculty labor certifications and other unique cases. Liaise with various departments across campus to ensure smooth procedures for filing various applications with the US government.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Master's degree in a field relevant to the position. 3 years' experience in a role filing H-1B petitions and Labor Certification petitions. 3 years' supervisory experience in a higher education environment, specifically in an International Scholars area/office, International Students office, or equivalent. Knowledge of Department of Labor (DOL) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) laws and regulations pertaining to the hiring of international faculty, researchers and staff. Excellent verbal / written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer services skills. Ability to influence and build effective working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. Preferred: PhD, EdD, JD or other terminal degree. Experience with the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program as a Responsible Office (RO) or Alternate Responsible Office (ARO).
