Profile

Director I The candidate will work for Student Conduct department. Supervises staff and operations by assigning and delegating tasks, providing direction, resolving work problems, communicating job expectations, training employees, and developing professional growth development opportunities. Conducts annual employee evaluations, and effectively recommends pay increases, promotions and other personnel actions. Approves leaves and authorizes overtime as appropriate. Participates in employee selection process. Administers disciplinary actions upon approval, and in collaboration with Human Resources. Carries out, explains, interprets and enforces policy. Oversee the Student Conduct Program's day to day operations, including documentation of incidents, communication to students, and case management. Serves as an administrative hearing officer for higher-level allegations of misconduct and the divisional representative of the student conduct process to college-wide entities, students, faculty, staff, and the college's police department, ensuring a developmentally appropriate and accountable system for managing student conduct and liability issues. Facilitates the college's student Behavioral Intervention team (BIT); and serves as a member on the Human Resources BIT. Oversees the college's Enrollment Review Team under the Policy for Reporting Felony and Other Violent Crime, including reviewing documentation of applicants for admission, conducting follow-up investigations, interviewing applicants for admission, and responding to non-compliant students. Develops and interprets data to monitor trends, inform decision-making and provide college wide education and training programs on student conduct, student rights and responsibilities, academic integrity, and incident prevention. Coordinates assessment activities; generates statistical analysis, produces and provides reports, and distributes general information on research in the field of student conduct and student affairs. Provides consultation and support for faculty, staff and administrators in reporting and responding to incidents and students of concern. Oversees and serves as one of the facilitator's for the Student Conduct Committee and develops ongoing training for committee members. Serves as an important team builder on campus maintaining critical relationships with campus partners including faculty, College Police, Title IX Coordinators and Deputies, and many others. Maintains confidentiality of student records and other information. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works as required meeting workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have an appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Should have: Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Juris Doctorate preferred or a closely related field with 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible college or university professional full-time experience with developing and/or implementing trainings, budgets, and in judicial affairs, preferable in a community college setting or comparable institutional experience.
Must have knowledge of: functional supervisory practices; student development theory and student personnel administration; student support programs and services; management principles and practices; crisis intervention techniques; applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures; and well versed in current laws and guidance pertaining to FERPA, the Clery Act, Title IX, Campus SaVE Act, and other applicable regulatory provisions; legal issues surrounding student conduct and higher education policy development; incident reporting and review, investigation and assessment of alleged violations; supporting of administrative hearings; facilitating and conducting committee hearings; disciplinary legal issues and due process.
Should have ability to: be proactive, plan and evaluate; react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; exercise sound judgment in appraising difficult situations an in making appropriate decisions and judgment; engage students, faculty, staff and other college professionals in challenging conversations about student conduct; make critical decisions about student welfare and college safety and security; develop and maintain good working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contacts and general public; serve as key liaison to Public Safety, Counseling Services, Disability Services, and others as needed; provide training and education, with an emphasis on prevention and de-escalation of incidents; and assist with policy and procedure development within Shared Governance; be flexible; analytical and student-centered.
Must be skill in: critical thinking skills including policy analysis and interpretation; verbal and written communications; organizing resources and establishing priorities; outstanding interpersonal and community and human relations skills; communicating effectively within a diverse community; administrative processes (maintaining files and data-tracking of cases using Maxient or similar software.
