Associate Director of Admissions Duties: Reports to Assistant Dean for Admissions. Works with team of admissions professionals to recruit and enroll a dynamic class. Strategic responsibilities: Work extensively with the Assistant Dean to determine strategic goals for the Admissions Office across marketing, selecting and yielding the most promising J.D. talent in the US and globally. Support the larger strategic vision of HLS leadership as identified by the Assistant Dean and the HLS leadership team. The Director will assist in data-driven and innovative efforts to implement a comprehensive enrollment management strategy, provide leadership on marketing efforts, identify best practices in class selection and support a talented admissions staff. Marketing and recruitment: Lead enhancements to existing recruitment efforts, especially by coordinating domestic and international planning. Identify domestic and international markets in which J.D. Admissions may have success recruiting cohorts of talented prospective students. Consistent with HLS branding and strategic goals and in consultation with Admissions Office staff, supervise revision of hardcopy materials as well as online and social media presence to reflect new initiatives. Assist in identifying and implementing a comprehensive CRM system for communicating with prospective students, applicants, and enrolling students. Represent the law school at various law school fairs, forums, universities and receptions across the country. Help cultivate relationships with peer law schools as well as with pre-law advisors while traveling. Answer questions from prospective students regarding programs, application policies, etc. Serve as "Brand Ambassador" for HLS. Plan and execute own travel including content needs as well as budget and logistics. Class selection: Serve as voting member of office admissions committee, with final decision-making authority on a subset of applicant files. Responsible for reviewing ~25% of files per cycle. Make recommendations for files to be reviewed by Faculty Admissions Committee based on applicant's academic background, professional experiences and character and fitness responses. Interview applicants via video-conference. Supervise creation of data analysis tools and programs that will help monitor developing class profile. Create reports for the Office and for review by the Dean. Yield activities: Determine decision-making path for individual students and help answer their specific questions about HLS. Develop strategic messaging for individual applicants to personalize the post-admissions process and set goals to determine message effectiveness. In-depth counseling regarding selection of law school, differences among financial aid offers, and decisions about starting immediately versus deferring law school admission. Determine the metrics that will allow the office to evaluate the effectiveness of the various messages. Work with other staff members on planning of Admitted Students Weekends. Major programmatic/functional responsibilities: Through direct reports, ensure that ~6000 applications get processed, decisions get communicated, and files are maintained. With the Assistant Dean, set and manage the departmental budget. Supervise, train and support the professional development of staff members. Ensure that appropriate data is generated related to the admissions cycle from prospect generation through yield. Prepare reports and share analysis with the Assistant Dean and admissions staff.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: B.A. required or equivalent combination of education and experience; 7-9 years of related experience, including high level of quantitative responsibility and customer service focus. J.D. or other advanced degree (MBA, M.Ed, PhD) preferred. Sound judgment, discretion with highly confidential data, strong writing and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage program/projects and comfort working across high-functioning teams.
