Assistant Director, Admissions Duties: Reports to Director of Admissions. Works with team of admissions professionals to recruit and enroll a dynamic class. Strategic responsibilities: Work directly with the Director to implement strategic goals for the Admissions Office across marketing, selecting and yielding the most promising J.D. talent in the US and globally. Marketing and recruitment: Represent the law school at various law school fairs, forums, universities and receptions across the country. Help cultivate relationships with peer law schools as well as with pre-law advisors while traveling. Significant travel required. Answer questions from prospective students regarding programs, application policies, etc. Serve as "Brand Ambassador". Plan and execute own travel including content needs as well as budget and logistics. Responsible for significant copywriting and content development for both web and print materials in coordination with the Director. Class selection: Serve as voting member of office admissions committee, with final decision-making authority on a subset of applicant files. Bring extensive background in best practices in admissions file review to the office and make recommendations on path for specific files. Responsible for reviewing 20% of files per cycle. Make recommendations for files to be reviewed by Faculty Admissions Committee based on applicant's academic background, professional experiences and character and fitness responses. Interview applicants through the invitation-only HLS video-conference process. Make recommendations for admission based on interview as well as use interview notes to help determine next steps for yielding applicants if/once admitted. Yield activities: "Case manager" for 20% of admitted applicants, helping to determine decision-making path for individual students and helping to answer their specific questions about HLS. Develop strategic messaging for individual applicants to personalize the post-admissions process and set goals to determine effectiveness of various messages. In-depth counseling regarding selection of law school, differences among financial aid offers, and decisions about starting immediately versus deferring law school admission. Elevate specific cases to Director and/or Assistant Dean and other HLS administrators for specific questions as needed. Participate in Admitted Student Weekends, with responsibility for planning and executing specific tasks. Serve as primary liaison to current students and student groups as well as HLS alumni who are engaged in various yield activities. Provide on-going maintenance of contacts within the yield matching database and supervise Admissions Fellows program. Bring strong background in best practices in yield management to Admissions Office staff. Use data and statistical analysis for recommendations for changes to future yield activities. Significant writing and content development for strategic messaging across marketing channels.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: B.A. Degree; 5+ years of experience in Admissions or other customer-service focused industry, with a preference for work in higher education. J.D. or other advanced degree preferred. Sound judgment, discretion with highly confidential data, strong writing and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage program/projects and comfort working across high-functioning teams.
