Profile

Technical and Research Consultant IV - Tax Compliance Fiduciary and Regulatory Support The candidate will serve as the primary source of tax compliance expertise for the line of business. Will evaluate and monitor onboarding, filing and other operational processing to ensure compliance with tax law. Make risk-based recommendations on process changes and internal and external resource needs to close any identified gaps. Maintain service contracts and internal service level agreements with internal tax and legal experts and external firms where ongoing support exists or is needed. Act as a business unit liaison with Tax, Legal and WIM Risk Management and Compliance units on day to day issues. Serve as a resource for tax and other regulatory questions that impact day to day account administration. Evaluate the impact of major changes in the tax laws and regulations pertaining to institutional accounts and working with Corporate Tax and WIM Risk and Compliance to advise on the effects of such changes as they relate to both the operation and administration of institutional accounts, including any required changes to account agreements. Educate internal staff regarding changes in the tax laws and regulations pertaining to institutional accounts. Serve as a resource for the sales group to respond to RFP questions pertaining to tax compliance and related servicing questions.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 10+ years of employee benefits experience OR 4+ years of employee benefits experience with a J.D. degree. Extensive knowledge and understanding of employee benefit recordkeeping is preferred. Extensive knowledge and understanding of institutional trust, custody and employee benefit plan administration is desired. Extensive experience in an audit, risk or compliance function in a financial services environment is an asset. Working knowledge and understanding of tax reporting requirements pertaining to ERISA Plans, Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plans, and other institutional custody accounts is a plus. Working knowledge and understanding of withholding and reporting requirements pertaining to benefit payments from both qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans is desired. Working knowledge of onboarding and account maintenance requirements pertaining to FATCA, AML, BSA, KYC and other regulations an asset. Experience negotiating contracts, providing design consultation, and evaluating the impact of major changes in the law and regulations pertaining to institutional trust, custody and retirement plans and working with legal and business partners to implement the effects of any such changes as they relate to both the operation and administration of institutional accounts is preferred. Institutional trust, custody or retirement services operational experience is desired. Experience consulting and implementing effective and practical operational controls that support risk mitigation and regulatory compliance is a plus.
