Director of Human Resources Duties: Reports to the Associate Vice President for Human Capital. Oversight of 35 state classified and administrative professional employees, and shares oversight of a $2.4 million budget. Responsible for creating and implementing the strategic vision for Human Resources and leading the daily operational management of the Department. Will also collaborate with members of the Office of Equal Opportunity and the Office of Training and Organizational Development, the other units reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Capital, to innovate and maximize the operations of the offices meeting the needs of the University, our employees and leaders.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, business, public administration, labor/industrial relations, law or other directly related field. Demonstrated leadership experience with strong organizational and administrative skills. 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in human resources with 5+ of these years in leadership roles. Excellent analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. A strong commitment to customer service. Preferred: A master’s degree in human resources, organizational development, business, public administration, labor/industrial relations, higher education administration, or other related field or a law degree. Experience at an institution of higher education or other large employer with 500+ employees. Knowledge of and experience with higher education principles, practices and procedures. Ability to develop policy and procedures and effectively communicate these to University units and employees. Demonstrated record of establishing effective collaborative efforts and relationships across an organization. Experience with a variety of different employee classifications (i.e., “at will†employees, classified employees, tenured employees, etc.). Proven track record of inspiring and managing a diverse professional staff in a multi-functioning unit with a strong commitment to customer service. Experience with regulatory compliance.
