ProfileEmployee Benefits Attorney The candidate will assist Producers and Account Executives in the Human Capital and Benefits Practice primarily in the designated Region (providing backup nationally) to service, gain and retain clients by responding to questions and requests with timely, accurate and pertinent information. Meet with clients regularly to deliver the company products and services of NLRG. Travel is required in this position. The amount of travel will vary based on the needs of individual offices who meet client volume criteria. Responsibilities will include drafting form documents to assist clients in meeting their employee welfare objectives and obligations and reviewing existing documents for compliance and other related issues. As part of the regional resource, responsibilities will also include conducting seminars and presentations, visiting clients, and attending trade shows and conferences to represent company’s Human Capital and Benefits, and National Legal and Research Practices. Additional duties to include preparing news bulletins for field offices and clients about regulatory, political and industry events that affect employee benefits plans; preparing and reviewing other documents related to tax, labor, ERISA and employment law issues and informing staff and clients of those as needed. Support, assist and mentor junior staff members within the department. Juris Doctorate in Employee Benefits related discipline and 5+ years of experience in private practice of law, as part of a corporate legal team, or in a consulting or corporate employee benefits setting required. Expert knowledge of laws, codes, regulations and other relevant authority pertaining to Employee Benefit plans required. Exceptional research, critical thinking, communication (including presentation skills), organization and time management skills required. Knowledge of media communication and dissemination techniques preferred.
