ERISA Attorney The candidate will provide advice to all of the business partners investing in all asset classes (the “Asset Classesâ€) as well as the requisite skills and experience to join our Investments & Business Transactions Law team, supporting the Asset Classes. Responsible for a wide range of investment transactional work for our public company parent, numerous subsidiaries, our pension plans and other clients and works closely with our investment professionals. Provide legal advice and support in connection with all phases of investing including the evaluation, structuring, documentation, negotiation, execution, monitoring, and managing investments in the United States and in other global regions. Advise the pension plans on investment policies and procedures. Advise investment professionals regarding ERISA issues relating to all Asset Classes. Collaborate with other attorneys and work directly with the business partners as a member of the Investments and Business Transactions Law team. Provide advice and counsel to business partners on legal issues and risks in connection with ERISA. Conduct legal reviews; identify and analyze key issues; draft, review, and negotiate transaction agreements; manage projects; and prepare communications with respect to day-to-day matters. Coordinate, supervise, and oversee the work of outside counsel. Prepare materials to support pension plan recommendations, policy drafting; and ongoing pension plan governance and oversight. Prepare ERISA-related regulatory filings, and monitor, assess, and participate in industry association activities relating to ERISA public policy and regulatory developments. A bachelor’s degree, J.D., and a license to practice law in a U.S. Jurisdiction required. 4 – 7 years of legal advisory experience in ERISA as it relates to pension plan investing required. Proven ability to work on multiple investment-related projects in a time critical, transaction-oriented environment required. Knowledge of and interest in current trends, success factors, participants, and terms in ERISA required. Demonstrated experience analyzing and negotiating complex legal documentation in connection with ERISA issues for pension plan investing required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
