Director, Intellectual Property Duties: Work as a member of the IP Group of firm Legal, reporting to Lead IP Counsel & Senior Director. Will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on a wide range of intellectual property issues in an innovative and dynamic bio pharmaceutical company. Identify, procure and defend intellectual property worldwide including evaluating inventions, conducting prior art searches, preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Supervise outside counsel in prep/pros activities. Conduct freedom-to-operate reviews and analyses; monitor and analyze competitive intellectual property. Counsel and educate scientists and management regarding IP issues and strategies. Collaborate with Business Development on licensing opportunities. Review nondisclosure, research, material transfer and service agreements involving the use, transfer, or ownership of intellectual property. Provide other legal advice and services as may be required from time to time in a growing bio-pharmaceutical company.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Ph.D. in life sciences, chemistry disciplines preferred, or B.S./M.S. in life sciences with significant work experience in small molecule. J.D. with admission to at least one state Bar. Registered before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. 7+ years of patent experience with drafting and prosecuting pharmaceutical patents. Law firm or pharmaceutical company experience. Well versed in post-America Invents Act (AIA) landscape. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment is essential.
