Director, Contract Management The candidate will provide supervisory oversight to direct reports (e.g., training, performance evaluation, workload leveling, project allocation, compliance to process and metrics, recruitment and selection of new employees, trouble shooting and issue resolution). Will assist Global Senior Director of Contracts with creating and implementing the strategic vision for the Contract Management department. Supports business growth through the generation of innovative processes, strategic thinking, effective priority setting, a culture of continuous improvement, waste elimination, and increased customer satisfaction. Ensures effective business continuity within Contract Management (i.e. problem-solving against market concerns, resourcing issues, etc.). Implements global Contract Management policies, procedures and SOPs. Acts as back-up to Global Sr Director of Contracts as needed. Facilitates integration and Contract Management alignment within and across the larger commercial organization. Ensures that established contract departmental budgets are adhered toEnsures departmental productivity targets (including staffing) are met. Executes defined reporting requirements around Contract Management performance metrics (i.e. annual growth targets, contract TATs, etc). Partners as needed on current and future departmental organizational structure in support of the larger commercial organization. Directs the provision of solution-oriented approaches to address departmental issues. Maintains working knowledge of relevant, BU-specific technical and regulatory environments, relevant company policies (i.e. HR), etc. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets departmental/commercial reports. Directs/facilitates negotiations with clients in partnership with Senior Management, Sales, etc. Maintains and grows new and existing key client relationships. Actively supports strategic client relationships to increase the commercial pipeline.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have BA or BS degree in business or life sciences (or equivalent experience). Law degree, MBA or BS in Law preferred. Must have 14+ years in the pharmaceutical or CRO industry preferred with 10+ years of contract management related experience (or equivalent). 9 years supervisory experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel and Word (intermediate) is required. Experience and comfort in a high volume, fast paced environment is essential. Knowledge of software applications (SFDC, CMS, etc) is required. Must have In-depth knowledge of and ability to work across Covance BU lines. Proven track record in effective operations and/or commercial management is required.
