Privacy Counsel Duties Provide first-class legal support for a global organization. Support the organization in conjunction with both the legal team and the company’s team of data policy and governance professionals to ensure privacy and data protection compliance while enabling business innovation. Analyzing existing and developing products and solutions to ensure they comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws and industry best practices. Advising the general counsel, senior leadership team, and various business units regarding global data protection and privacy compliance, drawing on knowledge and experience of specific government/industry requirements and best practices. Reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection commercial contract terms with customers and vendors. Identifying ongoing risks and requirements resulting from new and evolving privacy laws and regulations. Advising on notification and other obligations in connection with security/privacy incidents and incident response programs. Collaborating closely with data policy and governance team on privacy-related matters beyond purely legal issues. Managing the relationship with and maximizing the value from the company’s outside privacy counsel. Working with the rest of the legal department to support the Company's general legal activities where needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Law degree from a highly regarded law school and be admitted to at least one state bar. 3 years of privacy and data protection-related experience in a law firm and/or in-house. Experience with and strong working knowledge of software services' platforms, the digital marketing industry, and IP licensing strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of U.S, EU, APAC, and Latin America data protection laws and regulations. Strong commercial contracting experience in drafting, revising and negotiating contracts globally. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide business-practical legal advice. Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage timelines and balance multiple deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style.
