Senior Counsel - Privacy and Data Protection The candidate will work with relevant business units in company in all jurisdictions, with support from other legal colleagues and external counsel, to provide advisory support and knowledge management on privacy and data protection matters relating to any part of company's business globally. Will act as primary specialist legal support to company's business and the Legal team globally in respect of privacy and data protection regulatory compliance in all contexts. Provide timely and business focussed legal advice to company's business and the company Legal team globally, both in response to specific queries and on a proactive basis. Develop and maintain company's privacy and data protection law know-how. Develop and maintain in partnership with company's business units and legal stakeholders company's privacy and data protection policies and processes, and where required the same for other areas of regulatory compliance (such as anti-bribery, competition law etc). Develop, maintain and deliver training programmes to company's business units and legal stakeholders in respect of privacy and data protection law compliance and company's related policies, and where required to do or support the same for other areas of regulatory compliance (such as anti-bribery, competition law etc).
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should be a qualified solicitor with significant experience in advising on privacy and data protection law. Prior experience in a similar role within an in-house legal team would be an advantage. Should have willingness to learn about privacy and data protection frameworks outside of the UK and Europe. Willingness to work across other areas of legal compliance as described above is needed. Should have ability to travel internationally.
