Deputy Clerk II – District Court Duties: Perform detailed clerical tasks for the Office of the Clerk of Court in the processing of appellate case files. Responsible for delivering files and mail, filing closed civil and criminal files and appendices, scanning criminal briefs, clocking in, filing and retrieving civil and criminal records for argument, returning civil and criminal records, and making requested photocopies. Works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks. Processing incoming electronic filings. Scanning and docketing paper filings. Issuing court opinions, mandates, and orders. Creating new appeals and petitions in the automated case management system. Handling incoming mail. Responding to in-person and telephone inquiries from members of the public. Serving as a liaison to other court clerks as required. Maintaining case files and exhibits. Returning civil and criminal records. Processing filing fees. Handling paper and electronic copy requests.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Associate’s degree in law, office skills or a closely related field and 3 years of related experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis and additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat is essential.
