Assistant District Attorney The candidate will oversee and participate in the prosecution of Domestic Violence related criminal cases in the company. Assign, evaluate and screen cases to determine appropriate action. Collaborate closely with the Bureau Chief to administer policy. Motivate and direct all levels of staff in various responsibilities. Understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues. Train staff on Federal and State statutory and case law regarding criminal procedure and penal law, as well as Domestic Violence related issues and prosecution methods. Liaise with company’s Family Justice Center, the New York City Police Department, and other partners in the field of Domestic Violence. Participate in meetings and conferences between the District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies. Advise and assist legal staff in the handling of the assigned cases. Prepare case status and statistical reports, and address staff scheduling as required. Perform all other related duties and projects as designated.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree and 5+ years of trial and/or appellate experience. 18+ months of supervisory and/or management experience. Must have extensive knowledge of, and experience with, New York’s Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Excellent presentation and organizational skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics.
