Deputy General Counsel The candidate will assist the General Counsel in managing the legal responsibilities of the agency and providing support for the Commissioners and staff in matters of policy, litigation, regulations, training, outreach, public records and internal personnel issues. Will assist the General Counsel in conducting agency investigations. Represent the firm in employment and labor matters, including administrative hearings. Assist the General Counsel in researching and advising internal staff and the Commissioners on a range of legal matters. Review and provide advice regarding amicus requests from the MA Supreme Judicial Court and other entities Maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Draft regulations and guidelines for the implementation of laws enforced by the agency. Review proposed legislation to determine impact on agency activities. Recommend standard operating procedures to be adopted by the agency and Legal Division. Collaborate with the Office of the Attorney General in the defense of civil actions against the firm and its personnel. Provide assistance with the management and training of Commission Counsel. Provide legal support for Public Records requests and subpoenas for records to the agency. Perform other duties, as assigned. Must have JD degree from an accredited law school and a license in good standing from the Board of Bar Overseers to practice law in Massachusetts and at least five years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a practicing attorney. Should have 7 years of professional experience as a practicing attorney, at least five of which must include work with employment law. Experience conducting investigations is needed. Experience with administrative law proceedings is advantageous. Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of anti-discrimination and labor law is ideal. Must have 5+ years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, supervisory or managerial experience in the particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical). Fluency in one or more language is essential.
