Assistant Attorney General The candidate will handle death penalty litigation on behalf of the prosecution in support of the imposition of a capital sentences by the trial courts and requires experience in state and federal courts involving direct appeals, post conviction and federal habeas corpus. Must have 3+ years of experience as an attorney in the trial and/or appellate courts handling complex criminal issues and/or capital cases. Criminal post conviction and federal criminal habeas experience desirable. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral advocacy skills. Preference is given to applicants with capital criminal experience. Both criminal trial and appellate experience in the state and federal courts is required. Preference will be given to applicants with capital criminal experience. Admission to the Florida Bar and professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings required. Membership in good standing in another state Bar can substitute for the required admission to the Florida Bar provided membership in the Florida Bar is attained within 12 months of appointment to a position in this class.
