Assistant United States Attorney The candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of criminal cases with an emphasis on complex white collar and economic crimes. Should have a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or the District of Columbia, and have 1+ year of post-J.D. experience. Should be active members in good standing of the Bar (any jurisdiction). Should preferably have 3-5 years of post-J.D. litigation experience. Should preferably also have some subject matter expertise in financial crimes or other complex white collar matters and will demonstrate the ability to handle complex cases from the initial investigative stage through trial. Will be expected to do their own legal research and writing and be substantially self-sufficient in preparing day-to-day correspondence and pleadings. Must have experience with automated research on the Internet, electronic court filing, and electronic email and word processing systems. Note: All initial attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis pending favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
