Criminal Resolution Office Lawyer The candidate will represent clients in Provincial Court, Adult Criminal and Youth Division, through to the resolution of their matters (not including trial), and to advise and assist unrepresented individuals in Docket Court. Accept clients as referred by the Legal Services Centre staff and represent these clients through the initial stages of their matters through to the resolution of their matters short of trial. Responsibilities include acting as Duty Counsel in Provincial Court, Adult Criminal which includes interviewing individuals both in and out of custody assisting them with their court appearances, conducting bail hearings and dispositions as necessary in docket court. May also be required to act as Duty Counsel in Provincial Court, Youth Division. Will also provide legal information and advice, and refer individuals to other agencies and programs. Travel will be required to provide services to clients in Pincher Creek, Ft. McLeod, and Cardston locations. Must have a law degree from a recognized law school, membership in the Law Society of Alberta, and experience in criminal law practice.
