Staff Attorney The candidate provides court representation and other legal duties. Experience as a Victim Advocate, including familiarity and understanding of victims' rights, including knowledge of Maryland's legislation and policy concepts is essential. Provide victims of crime with comprehensive legal consultations, victim rights representations, and referrals. Record notes and contribute to the intake, case assessment and case management process to include follow-ups and record keeping in legal files database. Represent clients in a specialization area(s) of victim's rights, guardian ad litem, domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, homicide survivors and other crime victims. Conduct legal outreach for victim service providers, pro bono attorneys, and other community partners throughout Maryland. Attend and represent at outreach meetings, support group meetings and trainings. Actively participate and oversee the organization with fundraising, event planning, grant writing and other tasks that further the mission of the agency. Grant management and reporting experience. Must be able to work collaboratively with a team and independently. And other duties as directed. Law degree and bar membership required, preferably Maryland Bar. Preferred experience with victim services and victims' rights required. Experience in legal advocacy on the behalf of a vulnerable, underserved and underrepresented population. Solid computer skills - Internet, Microsoft Office, Legal Files database, Constant Contact, Social MediaCourtroom experience is essential. Must have 3+ years of legal experience which results in the desired skills, knowledge and ability to represent all crime victims' rights.
