Attorney II - Assistant Appellate Defender The candidate will represent clients convicted of criminal offenses on direct appeal and in post-conviction relief appeals before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court. Should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing trial or appellate attorney. Admission to the South Carolina Bar and all Rule 403, SCACR requirements accomplished required. Knowledge of substantive criminal law and criminal procedure in South Carolina is preferred. Knowledge of general case, statutory and common law is desired. Exceptional writing and research skills required as well as an ability to orally argue cases in a very persuasive and highly effective manner are an asset. Capital experience preferred. Some overnight travel may be required.
