Counsel Consultant Duties: Provides legal support for a variety of legal matters pertaining to Dell’s General Procurement and Software & Peripherals groups. Reviews and negotiates supplier contracts and develops contracting guidelines, playbooks, and training in support of contracting processes; Participates in procurement support process development, improvement and administration and assists with supplier onboarding processes as required; Provides direct support for executive-level clients and staff; Advises clients on legal issues involving compliance with international, federal, and state laws and regulations; Develops training to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; Works with sales and solutions counsel to ensure consistency of legal terms in customer offerings; Manages supplier claims and works with litigation and IP counsel on supplier-related issues; Works on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent judgment is required to determine appropriate action; Performs legal analysis tasks (including research and/or drafting) for business needs related to practice areas and advises organization on appropriate legal actions to be taken; Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization; Recommends changes to organizational policies/procedures involving legal issues; Understands, follows, and enforces Legal Department policies and procedures; Coordinates legal matters handled by outside counsel. Works under the supervision of a Director in the Dell Legal Department; Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting overall goals and objectives; and may provide guidance to support personnel.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD degree. At least one state bar admission. Prefer 8+ years' related experience in law firm or corporate legal environment. In-house experience supporting executive-level clients desired. Experience with commercial contracting and software licensing preferred.
