In-House Legal Counsel Pro Tem Duties: Responsible for serving as a point of consultation or liaison for legal issues relating to general business law and advises on a range of matters involving federal and state business laws. Provide legal insight and leadership for enterprise legal initiatives, risk mitigation strategies, legal requests and special projects. Provide legal guidance to company officials on general business law issues. Advise the company appropriately and make business law-related interpretations and recommendations with regard to general business law and contract issues. Prepare, review and administer legal documents related to general business law issues, including vendor agreements, customer agreements, IT, confidentiality agreements and other contracts. Review existing contracts for business or legal risks as well as potential business opportunities and suggest changes or facilitate re-negotiations on behalf of the company. Coordinate external legal counsel involvement in litigation and other company legal matters. Other tasks and projects as assigned. Focuses on results in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner when dealing with customers, vendors, team members, and others. Accepts being accountable and responsible in work practices and expectations. Delivers what is promised. Fosters a collaborative, team-oriented attitude. Communicates effectively with others with clarity and transparency. Uses innovative critical and creative thinking to evaluate and solve work and customer issues. Seeks assistance in solving work problems through collaboration and information seeking.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school plus 3+ years of relevant experience in an in-house position or law firm. Admission to at least one state Bar. Strong communication, contract drafting, and negotiating skills and the ability to work independently. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with an attention to detail. Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality. High standard of professionalism and a solid ethical compass. Ability to perform consistently and effectively under pressure. Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local laws affecting general business law. Wholesale distribution, drug manufacturing, or managed care contracting background preferred.
