Senior Attorney The candidate will help provide front-line legal support for company’s Notes, Tasks, Interactive Docs and Education products and services. In particular, will focus on supporting the development of enterprise and consumer productivity services and product offerings across a variety of platforms and devices, providing front line legal support for engineering, compliance and business development teams for Notes, Tasks, Interactive Docs and Education offerings. The primary responsibilities for this position will include: Counseling and advising business executives and others on a wide variety of complex and developing legal and business issues. Meeting with product group clients on a regular basis to conduct legal reviews of business and product development activities. Drafting and negotiating transactional documents, including agreements relating to the development, distribution, and licensing of software and services. Coordinating between business contacts and internal legal specialists on topics such as privacy, security and regulatory compliance. Providing client education and training on relevant legal issues. Coordinating across legal colleagues on topics of education services and student privacy. Supporting legal colleagues in the field and soliciting input and coordination on novel or complex issues arising from customer and partner transactions.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have excellent academic credentials, a J.D. or equivalent from an ABA accredited law school, an active license to practice law, and at least 6+ years as a practicing commercial attorney. Experience in intellectual property counseling, licensing and transactions and in the software industry is preferred. Should have an ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and manage complex, multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment and across geographies and inter-departmental teams. Must have sound and practical business judgment, an ability to think strategically and a desire to establish a “trusted advisor†relationship with key business clients. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in the legal and non-legal contexts.
