Associate Project Manager/Project Manager, Outsourcing The candidate will works independently with business partners to draft, negotiate and implement agreements that maximize value and support R&D activities on time and in budget. Ensures compliance with all relevant Abbvie policies, procedures and objectives. Manages vendor and business partner interfaces to ensure the business partners achieve efficient and effective deliverables. Provides solutions-based expertise both internally and externally. Major Responsibilities: works under the guidance of outsourcing management and is the first line of contact for all vendors and R&D business partners; project managers play a key role to ensure successful strategic oversight and management of contract deliverables across their assigned portfolio (therapeutic/functional area). Prepares and negotiates complex contracts (i.e., vendors) and oversees and are responsible for the preparation of standard, less complex contracts (i.e., CSAs, CDAs, PRO license agreements, etc.). Takes the lead role in proposal development to ensure actionable, relevant proposals are provided to business partners on time. Prepares project/study specific requests for proposals (RFPs); manages and influences the RFP process, competitive bidding negotiations, benchmarking and sourcing strategy as needed. This includes managing and leading RFP/bid defense process and supplier selection to maximize value and support R&D business needs and objectives. Understand cost drivers associated with contract types and drive negotiations that ensure the best value for quality, pricing, and service. Demonstrates a high level of outsourcing and technical competencies across multiple contract types and therapeutic/functional areas. Highly competent in negotiation and contracting business standards. Responsible for compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. Acts as the first line contact for issue escalation related to contracts and budgets as well as vendor performance and deliverables. Manages study related vendor relationships and issue resolution of moderate complexity; knows when to escalate to senior management and vendor management. Monitors vendor performance in accordance with contracts utilizing metrics, prior expertise and bench marking when applicable. Monitors all changes in study scope ensuring timely change order finalization and implementation; including the negotiation of change order costs for impacted agreements. Responsible for communication of status of negotiations with key internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner. Also responsible for the timely communication of contract issues to stakeholders that could impact project timelines. Work closely with TA/FA's, Legal, OEC and suppliers to resolve contract issues. Identifies and participates in ongoing process improvement initiatives. Demonstrates qualifications needed to train and QC work of other team members on many complex contract types.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Finance, or Law. Should have 4-6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with an emphasis on the business (contracting, outsourcing, finance) and technical (chemistry, biology, clinical) aspects or clinical operations.
