Business Development Officer The candidate will lead the strategy for client development and revenue generation, profile-building, and business development for the firm’s core service offerings across the US, Europe and Asia. Will foster and drive a collaborative and creative approach to business development and marketing that effectively supports the firm’s overall business goals and objectives. Will lead a team of 20+ business development professionals, work closely with senior management, Firm practice and department heads and will report to the Firm’s Chief Marketing Officer. Will: Collaborate with Practice and Industry Group Leaders in developing strategies to cultivate new clients, strengthen relationships with existing clients, and leverage the Firm’s geographic, industry, and practice group reach, in order to generate revenue, drive profitability, and build brand presence. Ensure that high quality, accurate, and relevant sector, market, and client intelligence research is undertaken and shared with other firm leadership; develop and help establish appropriate responses and plans for action. Identify trends in the market place (short and mid-long term) where the Firm can capitalize on opportunities (including those opportunities where diversification/convergence of service offerings may be necessary). Provide proactive leadership and direction to the business development team, developing skills and capabilities within the group. Foster a business development and account management culture, amongst partners, lawyers, and professional staff to manage client relationships more effectively and achieve measurable results.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: An undergraduate degree is required; JD Degree, MBA, or other advanced degrees preferred. 15-20 years of broad-based, senior business development, sales (revenue generation) and marketing leadership. Experience in highly sophisticated legal, professional services, consulting or corporate environments. A track record in innovation and creating and implementing successful “first in kind†initiatives. Outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to lead through influence rather than direct control, and to create consensus-based support for business strategies and decisions. Dynamic energy level, an unquestioned work ethic, willingness to “roll up your sleeves†and work closely with colleagues and team members. Superior presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills; the ability to interact credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization – tailoring communications effectively for different groups and stakeholders. Demonstrated record recruiting, mentoring, managing, and developing high performance teams.
